The Super Falcons today slumped to a 4-0 loss to hosts USA in a friendly played in Kansas City as part of the build-up to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Both teams will play a second game on September 6 in Washington DC.
The nine-time African champions captained by Rasheedat Ajibade let in three goals in the first half during which they struggled to come into the game.
But for some big saves by goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, the scores would have more embarrassing.
The USA increased the tally to 4-0 in 54th minute via a penalty goal, but the Falcons were better organised in this half.
There were full international debuts for Deborah Abiodun and Tosin Demehin, who shone at the recent FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
