Goalkeeper Destiny Emuwahen from Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna is the Golden Eaglets No 1 and he was one of the reasons Nigeria will feature at the U17 AFCON in Morocco, when it gets underway next weekend.
He was one of the major positives to emerge from a rather shaky outing by the five-time world champions at the WAFU B qualifiers in Lome, Togo.
His composure and agility came to the rescue of the team on several occasions.
He was outstanding, pulling off several big saves as Nigeria stopped high-scoring Burkina Faso 1-0 in the semifinal of the qualifying tournament.
He may well face stiffer competition for the No 1 jersey now as the two other shot stoppers on the squad are also in top shape, but he is again expected to repeat his exploits in Morocco when he is between the posts.
Destiny, who will be 17 in July, is athletic and his infectious confidence has often helped out an inexperienced defence.
The return of Emmanuel Chukwu, who missed the qualifiers no thanks to injury, has seen the Eaglets post clean sheets in test matches.
This will be hoping for the same in Morocco.
