Turkish Super Lig club Gaziantep FK have said transfer talks with Olanrewaju Kayode have been “suspended” because of the big pay demand of the striker.
Kayode enjoyed a successful loan spell at modest Gaziantep from Shakhtar Donetsk this past season.
He scored 11 goals in the league and the club placed eighth on the table in their first season back in the Turkish top flight.
Gaziantep have now claimed they have reached agreement for a transfer fee with Shakhtar Donetsk, but further discussions have been hampered by the player’s wage demands.
“Our offer to Larry Kayode and his club continued in the past weeks, but the transfer negotiations were suspended due to the high salary demand of Kayode’s current contract,” the club’s statement read in part.
Kayode has previously played in Switzerland, Israel, Austria and Spain.
