A senior player of the Super Eagles (name withheld) has emphatically told SCORENigeria he and his other teammates in the national team have yet to receive bonuses and allowances owed them since 2020.
“I have not received the allowances and bonuses we are owed,” he told SCORENigeria
“I can show you my account that there has been no such payment to me.
“I also know that other players have not also received this money.”
As first reported by SCORENigeria, the bonuses of 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe were the only outstanding monies paid.
These monies were paid in Naira.
The Super Eagles have listed as many as 29 match bonuses and allowances they are yet to receive going as far back as 2020.
The players confronted NFF president Ibrahim Gusau in Abidjan after the 2025 AFCON qualifier against Benin last month during which they clearly expressed their disappointment over outstanding payments.
Super Eagles co-ordinator Patrick Pascal recently commended the discipline and professionalism of the players for going about their job without making much fuss about what they are owed.
The anti-corruption agency EFCC is now investigating these claims among other payments involving the Super Falcons, Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets and Falconets.
