Top Belgian club Antwerp are leading the race to sign Nigeria league hotshot Silas Nwankwo, SCORENigeria can report.
Nwankwo’s representative Olanrewaju Famakinwa told SCORENigeria he has been contact by various clubs led by Antwerp to sign the Nassarawa United striker.
“There are serious interest in signing Silas (Nwankwo) from two top Egyptian clubs Al Masry and Ismaily. Israeli team Hapoel Hadera and Antwerp of Belgium have also shown interest in signing him,” Famakinwa disclosed.
“We are talking and negotiations are at advance stage. A decision will be taken soon.”
Last season, Nwankwo was joint top scorer in the league with 19 goals.
He was considered by Super Eagles interim coach Augustine Eguavoen to replace Odion Ighalo at the on-going AFCON, but the rule stipulated that only injury and health issues could force a player to be replaced at that point.
