Watford midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has told SCORENigeria that the Nigeria U23 team are capable of qualifying for next year’s Olympics in Tokyo.
The team are due to fly out of the country today ahead of the U23 AFCON in Egypt, which will serve as the qualifying tournament for the Tokyo Olympics.
Defending champions Nigeria are drawn against Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa and Zambia at the U23 AFCON, which kicks off on November 8.
“We’re capable of qualifying for the Olympics,” said Dele-Bashiru, who also featured for Nigeria at this year’s U20 World Cup in Poland.
“We have many good players, who will work together as a team to get the results.
“Nigerians should continue to support us all the way and we will give our best to make them proud.”
Nigeria won the 2015 U23 AFCON in Senegal and went on to clinch bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil.
