Tiki Taka Academy Nigeria will again feature in this year’s Gothia Cup in Sweden, according to the organisers of the global youth football festival.
Two years ago, the team representing Nigeria reached the final of the Elite Boys U17 category, where they lost 1-0 to perennial winners Right to Dream Academy, who are based in Ghana and bankrolled by mighty Manchester City.
Alhassan Yusuf, who now features for top Sedish club IFK Goteborg, has twice represented Tiki Taka Academy Nigeria at this tournament.
A total of 24 teams – 12 foreign teams and 12 from Sweden – have been registered to contest for the Puma Trophy.
The teams will be divided into six groups of four teams each with the top two teams advancing to the knockout rounds of the annual competition.
The foreign teams include Right to Dream, Pumas UNAM (Mexico), Avia, Audax (Brazil) and Sony Academies (Guinea).
The tournament will be played in July.
