African champions Super Falcons have been tipped to reach the last eight of the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Leader of Nigerian delegation to the Summer Series in Texas, Ayo Omidiran, has predicted at least a historic quarterfinal placing for the Falcons at the next World Cup.
The Falcons reached the knockout Round of 16 at the last World Cup in France.
However, the Falcons will have to go past perennial rivals Black Queens of Ghana in October on their way to next year’s African Women’s Championship, which will serve as qualifiers for the World Cup.
“We shall qualify for the 2023 Women’s World irrespective of the hurdles ahead of us,” Omidiran said.
“Ghana Black Queens are a formidable side, but I can assure you that they cannot stop the Super Falcons from qualifying for the World Cup.
“We shall beat them and go ahead to do very well and reach at least the quarterfinals (of the World Cup).”
She praised new coach Randy Waldrum, saying he has placed the Falcons on the right track.
“In Waldrum, we have a fantastic coach who is very vast in women’s football management and he is ready to work and achieve goals,” she said.
“I believe with the quality of friendlies and engagements, the NFF are putting together for the national teams, the Super Falcons will be stronger.”
