The Super Falcons face a tough Round of 16 clash Monday, when they face European champions England, who have found their groove after they thrashed China 6-1 to win Group D with a perfect nine points.
England laboured for wins over Haiti and Denmark, before they turned on the style to see off China in a final group game today.
The Three Lionesses were a class apart from China and deserved their biggest victory at this World Cup.
Lauren James was the standout player for England with two goals and an assist.
The win matched their biggest World Cup victory when they trounced Argentina.
Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum said he hopes for an improved defensive organisation by his team against the English.
“It will probably be England and I think you are going to watch a very good match,” he said before England confirmed their leadership of Group D.
“But we have to get better defensively first.”
The winners of this Round of 16 clash will take on the winners of the match between winners of Group H and runners-up of Group F.
