The Super Falcons have celebrated their 1-0 home win over Cameroon to lift them to the final playoffs for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Nigeria advanced 1-0 on aggregate after both teams played out a goalless draw in Cameroon last week.
Coach Randy Waldrum said he was proud of his team as they did what they had to do, while praising “fantastic” Deborah Abiodun for her committed display in midfield.
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was excited to keep another clean sheet and qualify for the playoffs.
“+3 clean sheet, amazing effort from the whole team. We are the Super Falcons. Unto the next round,” she posted on X
US-based defensive midfielder Deborah Abiodun was equally bullish with the performance of the team.
“To God be the glory. We overcame Cameroon,” she posted.
“A solid team performance Super Falcons. On to the next one.”
The team will now await the overall winners of today’s third round clash between South Africa and Tanzania.
South Africa won the first leg in Tanzania 3-0.
