The Super Falcons are through to the next round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on a 3-0 aggregate after they defeated Algeria 1-0 in Lagos today.
The Nigeria women will now battle Mali or Cote d’Ivoire in the next round of the qualifying tournament later this month.
Visiting Algeria did well to keep out the Falcons in the first 45 minutes, before FC Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala broke the deadlock just before the hour with new sports minister Sunday Dare in the stands.
However, the Falcons missed several chances despite the fact that they were boosted by the inclusion of six foreign-based pros after they first leg win in Blida last week.
Ironically, match winner Oshoala was the worst culprit as she missed chance after chance.
