Coach Imama Amapakabo has named an 18-man squad made up mostly of players from the domestic leagues for Friday’s U23 AFCON playoff in Sudan.
Germany-based striker Taiwo Awoniyi, captain Okechukwu Azubuike from Turkey and Sunday Faleye, who features in Austria, are the overseas-based stars selected for the trip.
The team flew out to Sudan from Abuja today.
The return leg match will be played in Asaba on September 9 with the overall winners advancing to the U23 AFCON in Egypt in November.
The tournament proper will serve as the qualifying competition for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
