Super Falcons experienced defender Onome Ebi has said they want to beat rivals the Black Queens well in Lagos Wednesday before doing same in Ghana at the weekend for a place at the women’s AFCON in Morocco next year.
The rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana will be rekindled Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos with a ticket to the AFCON at stake.
The AFCON will also serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
“These are two battles that we must win,” said Belarus-based Onome Ebi.
“We know that we have to start by winning well in Lagos on Wednesday and then go to Ghana and put up another big performance.
“We are not looking at this as home and away matches. We are looking at two matches that we must win.”
Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum said he is excited with the return of some key players like the experienced defender Osinachi Ohale and has predicted a good game.
“Ghana are a very good team. We have a lot of respect for them. They have some dangerous players. It should be a great match,” said the American coach.
“I am confident of our team. For the first time, we have the majority of the players we would want to have.
“We will go out for a good performance here at home and do it again in Ghana a few days later.”
