Super Eagles have vowed they will bounce back from a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Lesotho with victory Sunday against Zimbabwe as they hope to get their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign back on track.
Nigeria fans are still in total shock after the Super Eagles could only force little Lesotho to a 1-1 draw in Uyo Thursday.
The team have a chance to redeem themselves with victory over the Warriors of Zimbabwe in Butare, Rwanda, Sunday.
“We will respond very well (vs Zimbabwe),” promised embattled Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.
“Now we have to beat Zimbabwe on Sunday.”
Defender Semi Ajayi was the unlikely scorer for the Super Eagles against Lesotho when he headed home a corner to draw Nigeria level.
“The game against Lesotho is past, we now have to fight to beat Zimbabwe,” said the West Bromwich Albion central defender.
Meanwhile, the Eagles landed in Rwanda in the morning today.
They will make the four-hour road trip to Butare, where they will train later today before the match tomorrow.
Kick-off time is 2pm.
