Kelechi Nwakali has said Super Eagles coaches have watched his games in Portugal ahead of next month’s AFCON.
GD Chaves midfielder Nwakali featured at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, but has not been involved with the Super Eagles since Jose Peseiro took charge of the team.
The former Flying Eagles captain has played all 12 league games of Chaves this season and was even voted Man of the Match in a crucial home win over Vizela last week.
“The assistant coach (of Super Eagles) has come to watch, three, four of my games and I spoke to him after one of the games. We spoke at length and he said they are watching me,” Nwakali revealed in a radio interview.
“So, hopefully I will get an invitation.
“I am ready to play again for the national team.
“The only thing is to keep improving on what I am doing.”
Nigeria are due to submit a provisional squad list for the AFCON on December 14 ahead of a final 23-man squad.
