Super Eagles will be gunning for victories against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique to further boost team confidence, according to stand-in captain Kenneth Omeruo.
The Eagles face Saudi Arabia from 5pm today in Portugal, before they tackle Mozambique in another friendly on Monday as they prepare for 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe next month as well as the AFCON in January.
“We look forward to have a good game and win both games as we prepare for the AFCON and the World Cup qualifiers,” said Omeruo, who has welcomed the addition of top players like Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to the squad.
“It’s not enough to have a great team, which we already do.
“The coach told us in our meeting that we have to have that mentality that we will win the next game.
“We have to have a winning mentality, which is important for the confidence of the team.”
The Turkey-based defender said the warm-up matches in Portugal against a team like Saudi Arabia, who shocked Argentina at the last World Cup, will test the Eagles readiness ahead of major tasks.
