Much-traveled Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has said he could consider playing in the NPFL.
Dessers has previously played in Belgium, Holland, Italy and he is presently with Scottish giants Rangers.
“It’s a difficult choice, let’s call it something more exotic. But let’s say a place like Japan, the United States (MLS), South Africa or Nigeria. It would be nice to play there,” the striker told SportsBoom when asked where he would want to play.
A return to Holland or Belgium is out of the question, he maintained. It is a case of ‘been there, done that’ as Dessers wants to see the world.
This summer AEK Athens and Olympiacos have also been linked to Dessers, who is expected to cost €6 million.
He could also stay put at Rangers.
“My contract with Rangers still runs for two years. It’s a fantastic club and I’m happy here,” he said.
“When you score so many goals, it’s normal for other teams to show interest. I’ve seen the link with Olympiacos, but I don’t know anything specific about that. These kinds of rumours are normal.”
Rangers opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Motherwell. Manager Russell Martin praised the striker.
“Cyriel works hard when he’s on as a substitute. Wednesday night, and again today (Saturday). And he’s the only player we’ve had an offer for. Some lads should follow Cyriel’s example,” he offered.
