Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has said his wish is for DR Congo to beat Algeria later today and set up a rematch with Nigeria, who will be seeking to avenge a 2026 World Cup Playoffs loss they suffered at the hands of the Leopards.
Last month, DR Congo beat Nigeria 4-3 on penalties after scores were tied at 1-1 after extra time in a final World Cup Playoffs in Morocco.
DRC will now advance to the Intercontinental World Cup Playoffs in Mexico in March to keep alive their dreams of qualifying for the Mundial later his year in USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Leopards will first have to go past Algeria later today to set up a much-awaited rematch against the Super Eagles.
“I don’t really care (who we play next), but as Nigerians, we have unfinished business with DR Congo,” Bright Osayi-Samuel said.
“It was really painful to lose to them on penalties and for sure it will be a revenge and I believe we will beat them.
“We just have to focus on ourselves because we believe in our team. We were good (vs Mozambique, 4-0, clean sheet.”
