Former Super Eagles star Furo Iyenemi has said he will allow his son and Club Brugge promising striker Kaye Furo to also play for Nigeria.
Iyenemi featured at the 2000 AFCON hosted by Nigeria, while his 17-year-old son has been banging in the goals in the Belgian second division to generate interest back home in Nigeria.
However, Furo senior has maintained his son won’t consider an international future with Nigeria because he was badly treated when he played for the Super Eagles.
“My child must not suffer as I suffered. The same must not happen to my son,” Iyenemi told Omasports.
“Don’t follow in my footsteps. Be smart.”
He claimed he suffered a serious injury on Super Eagles duty and he was subsequently abandoned.

Actually our football federation fumbled based on Furo ‘s claim, however Nigeria is bigger and blessed than begging someone to allow his son don our precious green and white jersey.
@Afuye….It’s this type of talk that continues to show that we do not take the lives of citizens seriously. The man is hurt, what’s wrong with begging and saying “sorry, your son will not go through the same” helping them to heal and move forward. Just so you know, our green and white jersey is not as revered as it used to be because of issues like this. Showing empathy doesn’t mean that we are not big or blessed.
Am very sorry for the painful experience during your playing days with super eagles, such thing will never happen to your son. Please sir do not feed him with the mindset of seeing Nigeria as a wicked nation. You are bless to have a son who will make the whole world to remember you. On behalf of everyone and coaching staffs back in your time with the super eagles, I am deeply sorry for the wrongs and not looking out for you. Apologies please sir, allow your son embrace his father’s country (your country). Thank you sir and God continue to bless you.
