Despite his transfer troubles, Ademola Lookman will be good to feature for the Super Eagles in next month’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, according to former star Christian Obodo.
Ademola Lookman is currently training on his own at the Atalanta training ground and has yet to play a match for his Italian club since pre-season no thanks to a transfer standoff.
The reigning CAF Player of the Year has been named on a 31-man provisional squad for the forthcoming qualifiers.
However, some have argued that the player be left so that he could sort out his future.
“He should come and play for the Super Eagles,” said ex-Perugia midfielder Obodo.
“We can remember there was also a similar case with Victor Osimhen when he had his problems with Napoli. He came down, played for the Super Eagles and delivered.
“We have to support him at this time of his career.”
Coach Eric Chelle is expected to soon trim his provisional squad to 23 players for the qualifiers against Rwanda (September 6) and South Africa (September 9).
