The Super Eagles are leaving nothing to chance ahead of the AFCON as they have been tracking their first round rivals Burundi and Madagascar as well as hiring a second fitness trainer.
According to coach Gernot Rohr, the Eagles have been spying on their AFCON rivals since the draw was staged in Cairo on April 1.
He revealed that video analyst Nabil Trabelsi will on June 16 be in Tunisia to watch Burundi in an AFCON friendly.
He also sent another scout to watch Madagascar when they were forced to a 3-3 draw by hosts Luxembourg recently.
The islanders were leading 3-1 before Luxembourg fought back to draw level.
Rohr warned that his team cannot afford to underrate debutants Burundi and Madagascar.
“Burundi were unbeaten in the qualifiers and had to go past Gabon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Madagascar have a French coach and have many players who play in France,” he explained.
“The mistake is to believe that it will be easy against the newcomers.
“We won’t underrate any team.”
Rohr has also disclosed that a second fitness trainer will be engaged to push the Eagles to full fitness in Egypt, where the weather will be very hot at this time of the year.
Nigeria open their AFCON campaign on June 22 against Burundi in Alexandria.
