The Super Eagles will now drop to being the 35th best team in the world and fifth in Africa, when the latest FIFA Rankings are announced Thursday.
Qatar 2022 finalists Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and Cameroon will all overtake the Eagles in the latest ratings to be released by FIFA Thursday.
Morocco, who made history after they became the first African team to reach the semifinals of the World Cup, will jump 11 places to be 11th best team in the world.
They will also be No 1 in Africa ahead of Senegal, who reached the Round of 16 in Qatar.
Cameroon are 33rd in the world thanks in part to their history-making 1-0 win over Brazil in the group stage.
