Wilfred Ndidi and defender William Ekong are the Super Eagles most important players at the AFCON in Cameroon going by the experimental starting XI coach Augustine Eguavoen will line up tonight against Guinea Bissau.
The Premier League duo will most likely be the only players who will feature from the starting XI of the first two group games.
In other words, they are what Eguavoen will describe as “the spine” of the team.
Prior to this tournament, Eguavoen said he believes that Leicester City star Ndidi could do a lot more for the Super Eagles.
Ekong, on the other hand, has been solid in the heart of the defence even in the absence of the other half of ‘The Oyinbo Wall’, Leon Balogun.
Otherwise, Alex Iwobi will start his first game for the Eagles in Cameroon tonight, while fringe players like Kelechi Nwakali and Semi Ajayi will also get the chance to prove themselves.
Exciting Russia-based winger Chidera Ejuke will also get a second chance after his selfish play denied the Eagles are bigger win against Egypt in the opening group rounds.
