Stand-in captain William Ekong has said the Super Eagles are not fulfilled yet as they now want to be champions of Africa tomorrow night in Abidjan.
Nigeria are on course for a fourth AFCON title after they edged past South Africa in a tensed semifinal that needed to be decided by a penalty shootout.
Tomorrow they do battle for the second time in this tournament with host nation Cote d’Ivoire inside a 60,000-capacity Alassane Quatarra Stadium that will be mostly rooting for the home team.
“We fought hard to get to the final,” Ekong said.
“We’re not satisfied to reach the final, we now want to go all the way and win the tournament.
“It will be a tough game, it will be special.
“Everyone is very excited, we don’t need any motivation to play this final of the AFCON.”
“We want to create history,” added Ola Aina, who like Ekong, has been solid in the Super Eagles defence throughout this competition.
“I am looking forward to winning the AFCON.”
The Super Eagles pipped the AFCON hosts courtesy of an Ekong penalty goal in the group stage of the tournament.
