The Super Eagles do not have any excuses for crashing so heavily in Guinea Bissau, according to former Nigeria World Cup star Garba Lawal.
The Eagles suffered their heaviest defeat since 2003 when they fell 3-0 in Bissau Tuesday.
SCORENigeria later learnt that several top stars including Ola Aina and Samuel Chukwueze opted out of the match because they feared they will injure themselves on the bad pitch at the 24 September Stadium in Bissau.
“These boys don’t know what they are doing, they can’t be serious,” a furious ‘Chindo’ Garba Lawal told SCORENigeria
“Which pitch in Africa is good?
“Were I the coach of this team, I will drop most of them for the next set of games.
“If you cannot fight for me no matter the difficult conditions, why would you expect me to fight for you?
He continued: “I watched on TV South Africa destroy Eritrea, that’s how any serious team will play against a team especially one that you are higher ranked than.
“We really have to be serious, if not we will not qualify for the 2027 AFCON.”
The Super Eagles are second in Group L with three points from the first two matches, three points adrift of leaders Guinea Bissau.
In November, they play home and away against AFCON co-hosts in continuation of the qualifying series with only one team to advance to the tournament proper from Group L.
