Striker Tolu Arokodare, who made his Super Eagles debut in Rwanda, has revealed he was almost forced out of Belgian club at the beginning of this season.
Genk bought Arokodare as a direct replacement for compatriot Paul Onuachu, who was sold to Southampton in the Premier League.
He struggled to score goals and perform consistently, which frustrated the fans who often got on his back.
“I hardly cry, but I was so overwhelmed. I couldn’t believe it. At the start of this season I almost left Genk, and look where I am now,” Arokodare told Het Belang van Limburg.
Today, the 24-year-old striker has won two caps with the Super Eagles.
He was top scorer of the Belgian regular season with 17 goals and he’s poised to win the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with Genk.
And after which he could make a big transfer even though he still has two years left on his contract.
