These are most certainly not the best of times for the Super Eagles as they have suffered yet another major injury setback after No 1 goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was forced out of today’s Dutch league clash.
Nigeria will not want to lose another important player to injury as they look forward to the 2021 AFCON after striker Victor Osimhen emerged as major doubt for the competition after he fractured his face in action for Napoli.
The Super Eagles 22-year-old shot stopper Okoye was substituted by his Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam due to a shoulder injury in the 24th minute while in action against Ajax.
Okoye, who recently signed a contract to join Watford in the Premier League, was replaced with Benjamin Van Leer after he was treated on the pitch for nine minutes.
The severity of the injury is yet to be ascertained at this time.
He has been outstanding for Eagles and the Dutch club.
