The NFF have contacted Newcastle United striker William Osula to play for the Super Eagles instead of Denmark.
Osula was called up by Denmark for friendlies last month, but has yet to play for the country where he was born to a Nigerian father.
The 22-year-old forward has scored four goals in 19 Premier League appearances this season.
His pursuit comes at a time that coach Eric Chelle is rebuilding the Super Eagles after they failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
He has said he will give several overseas-born players a chance at next month’s Unity Cup in London.
