The Super Eagles could still be busy around the time of this year’s World Cup even after they missed out the world football showpiece event as they are being considered for an international tournament in South Africa.
SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlathe disclosed that sponsors have been approached to bankroll the tournament.
“I’m talking to some companies – if we are fortunate to get one of them then we will revive (the 4-nation tournament),” he said.
In the 1990s, South Africa attracted some high-profile teams for their 4-Nation Tournament.
Nigeria, Sweden, Italy, Egypt and Colombia, who all did not qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, are among the teams being considered for the invitational tournament.
The tournament could be played around the time of the World Cup, which kicks off on November 20.
