Super Eagles invitee Joe Aribo – full names Joseph Oluwaseyi Temitope Ayodele-Aribo – has got Rangers manager Steven Gerrard raving about him after his wonder goal in a comfortable win at East Fife in the Scottish League Cup round of 16 playoff.
The match ended 3-0 in favour of Rangers FC with midfielder Aribo, 23, putting the icing on cake after 85 minutes.
Aribo’s display caused Gerrard to sing his praise.
“Everyone will go away talking about Joe Aribo and rightly so. I am not sure how many good players have been at this stadium, but I don’t think you will see many better than Joe,” said the Liverpool legend when talking about the player who has been compared to former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira.
“Joe can go as far as he wants.
“I hope he stays alongside me for many years but he’s got the world at his feet.
“I can’t wait to work with him for longer. He was all over the pitch and covered every blade”.
The former Charlton Athletic star has been handed his first-ever call-up to the Super Eagles for a friendly next month in Ukraine.
