The Super Eagles will on Sunday take on Algeria for a place in the final of this year’s AFCON after the Desert Foxes edged past Cote d’Ivoire 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.
Algeria lost a penalty in normal time that would have seen them double their lead.
In the resulting penalty shootout, Wilfried Bony and captain Serey Die missed the spot kicks for the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
Sunday’s semifinal will therefore be a rematch of the 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament where the Super Eagles beat the North Africans 3-1 at home before FIFA awarded Algeria the return leg 3-0 after Nigeria fielded an ineligible player, Shehu Abdullahi.
At the AFCON, both teams last clashed at the 2010 edition in Angola, where the Eagles stopped Algeria 1-0 to claim third place.
Kick-off time will be 8pm.
