Because he is surplus to requirement to other African countries, coach Gernot Rohr can now work for free for Nigeria.
It should also be restated that the Amaju Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are so obsessed with anything outside Nigeria and so have converted themselves as scouts to the national teams to locate players of Nigerian parentage in the diaspora only.
And in the meantime the domestic leagues in Nigeria are dying.
It is against this background that the NFF will now eventually extend coach Gernot Rohr”s contract even if it means he would work for free and be permanently resident in Warri, Delta State.
These assertions by NANF are justified considering all the new conditions in his contract that he had no guts to reject even one.
Rohr’s contract is already becoming a slave contract unless FIFA and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) quickly intervene.
For Gernot Rohr to continue to accept every condition inserted into his contract shows the height of desperation and the fact that he really had no options outside Nigeria.
A good coach with very strong reputation would have walked away.
The 18 million Naira monthly salary for Rohr is a waste of Nigeria’s hard-earned resources.
The NANF will continue to insist that it will make economic sense and improve Nigeria’s domestic football to invest that money on a consortium of local coaches.
Rohr has nothing more to offer Nigeria.
