Jose Peseiro has admitted Bafana Bafana of South Africa gave his Super Eagles the most problems at the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
Nigeria needed a penalty shootout victory over South Africa to progress to Sunday’s AFCON final against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
“They caused us more problems than any other team,” Peseiro said.
“Their players have the quality and the capacity to manage the game.
“They are a difficult team to beat.”
However, the Portuguese coach maintained that after all said and done, the Super Eagles deserved their victory.
It was the fourth win in as many meetings for Nigeria against South Africa at the AFCON.
The Super Eagles will Sunday play their eighth AFCON against the home team.
Interestingly, both teams have another date in June, when they square up in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
