Skipper Mfon Udoh has said great teams like Liverpool have been known to bounce back in style from the brink of defeat and so he expects the CHAN Eagles to overturn a 4-1 loss in Togo and qualify for the tournament proper next year.
“Great teams have been known to fight back and win after heavy defeats, like Liverpool did last season against Barcelona (in the UEFA Champions League,” the Akwa United forward said.
“We have to show character and attitude and we will do it too.”
It would be recalled that Togo again beat the CHAN team 2-1 last month to eliminate them from the WAFU Nations Cup in Senegal.
Goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu has predicted a 3-0 win in Lagos for the team today for them to go through on the away goals rule.
“We hope to win 3-0 and qualify for the CHAN in Cameroon,” he said.
Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has added he expects the Agege Township stadium to be jammed and cheering the home-based Eagles to sensational comeback.
The NFF have already thrown open the gates for the match, which will kick off by 4pm.
