‘Simy’ Nwankwo is on a mission to return to the Super Eagles and today he further helped his cause with a brace for Crotone to beat Venezia 3-2 in a Serie B clash.
He opened scored in the 35th minute and doubled his team’s lead 20 minutes later.
He has now netted six goals in nine league appearances and Crotone are sitting pretty at the top of the standings in the Italian lower league with 18 points from nine matches.
Eagles coach Rohr has overlooked the big striker since at last year’s World Cup in Russia, where he only played a cameo role.
He said he needed ‘Simy’ to sort out his club future.
He has since then done so after he signed a long-term extension with Crotone, who are pushing for a prompt return to Serie A by the end of the season.
