Former England coach Steve McClaren is one of the three coaches shortlisted by the NFF technical committee for consideration by the executive committee as the next Super Eagles coach.
He is currently an assistant coach with Premier League giants Manchester United.
This is a role he has occupied severally including during the era of Sir Alex Ferguson.
ADVANTAGES: He has a solid track record that includes winning a first-ever Dutch league championship with FC Twente as well as playing a key role during Manchester United treble-winning season.
DISADVANTAGES: His biggest minus is that he has not worked in Africa. This will be a major undoing for him.
SCORENigeria RATING: he is the least qualified of the three shortlisted coaches because of the situation the Super Eagles. The new Super Eagles coach immediate task will be to qualify the team to the 2025 AFCON against Libya, Benin and Rwanda. It will be a gamble to entrust this responsibility to a coach with very little knowledge of African football.
