A staff of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed that NFF senior vice-president Seyi Akinwunmi was so shell-shocked by some of the revelations by ICPC investigators that he broke down and “wept like a baby”.
The lawyer who accompanied Akinwunmi to the anti-corruption agency will later predict that with such damning evidence, “some people will go to jail”.
Oyetunde Aderibigbe delivered a graphic revelation on today’s ‘Brekete Family’ programme on Human Rights Radio Abuja, which has been running an earth-shaking expose on the corruption at the NFF.
“Akinwunmi was in so much shock after he was shown evidence of the monumental fraud at the NFF,” Aderibigbe said.
“He was simply devastated.
“And the lawyer who accompanied him to ICPC, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), will later say that with the documents that they saw, these people (accused NFF top officials) will go to jail.”
Three NFF accounts staffers have so far been arraigned in court for stealing more than $10 million being money paid Nigeria by FIFA to development the country’s football.
NFF president Amaju Pinnick and general secretary Mohammed Sanusi were to have been joined as accused persons Monday when the case came up again for hearing in Abuja, but Justice Peter Affen was not available.
