Senegal plan to defy the ruling by CAF that has stripped them of the 2025 AFCON title and handed it to hosts Morocco.
The former CAF 1st Vice President and head of the CAF legal committee, Augustin Senghor, has insisted Senegal will keep their trophy.
“They dared to do this! They dared to substitute themselves for the referee of the Final in violation of the Laws of the Game!,” he posted on X
“Africa and the world will know how to recognise the champions of the AFCON.
“Senegal will keep its trophy no matter what.
“Too bad for African football!”
The serving CAF executive committee member then signed off with “Senegalese and African”.
The Teranga Lions also plan to parade the AFCON trophy during their friendly match against Peru at Stade de France on March 28.
The Senegalese football federation condemned the “unjust” ruling and have announced they will escalate the matter with Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
