Striker Gift Emmanuel Orban is the breakout player of the season in Norway and his goals look set to win promotion back to the top flight for Stabaek.
The 20-year-old striker was scouted by Stabaek sports director Torgeir Bjarmann at a tournament in Uyo in November 2021.
He has so far netted 14 goals and made six assists after he signed for the Norwegian second division club in August.
“He is this year’s biggest breakthrough star in Norwegian top football, if I am going to give that award,” screamed Eurosport commentator Amund Isaksen Lutnæs after Orban scored the opening goal for Stabaek to thrash Asana 4-0 in their promotion fight.
Orban completed his brace 15 minutes to full time.
Stabaek look set for a prompt return to the Norwegian top league as they are second on the table with 50 points from 26 matches.
Brann have already been crowned champions with an unassailable 72 points, while IK Start are third and five points behind Stabaek.
There are four rounds of matches left to the end of the season and the top two teams are guaranteed automatic promotion to the Eliteserien.
