Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu and Jerome Akor are back on the firing line scoring goals, while Super Falcons star Michelle Alozie also proves she knows her way to goal for her club in the USA.

5.Michelle Alozie
Multi-talented Alozie scored twice for Houston Dash to see off NJ/NY Gotham FC in the NWSL in the United States of America on Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary say. A fullback for the national team, she is a forward with her American club (she says that’s her preferred position) and she proved her worth with two well-taken goals on the night. Houston are now seventh in the standings with 26 points from 19 matches, seven points adrift of leaders San Diego. She will most certainly be trending on social media again, this time for her footballing prowess and not her sexuality.
4.Abdullahi Tanko
The big striker has really found his groove in the Czech Republic after many years in the doldrums in Portugal. Last season, he banged 15 goals in that country’s second-tier league. It was a tally that won him a transfer to the Czech top league this season. At the weekend, Tanko fired his fifth goal of the season for his new Czech club Barnik Ostrava to thrash hosts SK Sigma Olomouc 3-0. They are now fifth on the table with 17 points from 10 rounds of matches.
3.Paul Onuachu
The giant striker grabbed his third goal in as many matches for Trabzonspor to go past promoted Pendikspor 2-1 at home. The Ankara-based club are fifth in the Turkish Super Lig with 12 points from seven games. They will hope to climb higher on the table courtesy of the goals of their Nigerian summer signing on loan from Southampton. Onuachu has rediscovered his self-belief in Turkey after they nightmare he endured in the Premier League last season.
2.Jerome Akor
The former Flying Eagles striker proved again his early start to life in the French Ligue 1 was not a fluke with two goals at FC Lorient for Montpellier to record a handsome 3-0 win on the road. He has now netted five goals after coming direct from the lowly-regarded Norwegian league this summer. Sunday’s win was a most welcome victory for Montpellier after they failed to win their last four Ligue 1 games. They are now ninth on the table with nine points from seven matches, just two points off the qualifying bracket for European competitions.
1.Victor Osimhen
The Super Eagles star striker got everyone talking about the football again amid all the noise caused by TikTok videos by Napoli that mocked him. He came off the bench to score his fifth Serie A goal as Napoli dismantled home team Lecce 4-0. Napoli are now third on the table with 14 points from seven matches, four points shy of leaders Inter Milan. This away win was a much-needed confidence booster for the Serie A champions ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against mighty Real Madrid. Real will most likely be a stern test for both Osimhen and his club even though they will be playing in front of their partisan fans at the Diego Maradona Stadium in Naples.
