This weekend saw the resurgence of Gift Orban in France at a time his future was very much up in the air, while Super Eagles stars Moses Simon, Josh Maja and Chidozie Awaziem showed class at their respective clubs.
5.Chidozie Awaziem
The versatile Super Eagles defender showed he has settled down at his new base in the United States of America after he provided an assist for FC Cincinnati to trounce Montreal 4-1 at home in the MLS.
4.Moses Ebiye
The forward has continued to fight back to top reckoning after a difficult time in Norway when he scored the winning goal for Scottish club Motherwell at St Johnstone. He came off the bench to grab a stoppage time winner on the road. Motherwell won 2-1.
3.Josh Maja
The one-cap Super Eagles striker extended his fine early season form by contributing the assist to the winner for West Bromwich Albion to pip Swansea. West Brom remain unbeaten after four rounds of matches in the English Championship. They are second in the standings with 10 points, two points behind early pace setters Sunderland, who enjoy a perfect start to the new campaign.
2.Moses Simon
He put FC Nantes in front again at Montpellier when he converted a penalty as his club went on to win 3-1 in the French Ligue 1. He remains invaluable for ‘The Canaries’ and his coach Antoine Koumbouare is not shy to say that keeping the experienced winger is one of the best decisions taken by FC Nantes. He can now focus with confidence on upcoming 2025 qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda from this weekend.
1.Gift Orban
The Lyon forward was the Show Stealer this past weekend after he came off the bench to strike twice for the Ligue 1 club to beat visiting Strasbourg 4-3. He has for long being on the fringes at Lyon with speculations he could be loaned out for him to get more playing time. In the end, he stayed back and he was already justified this big decision with two well-take goals. Good enough too that he now appears to be a lot more modest after he praised the team for his individual brilliance. That was the case the previously.
