Nigeria stars led by Simeon Nwankwo again made the difference for their respective clubs across Europe at the weekend.
5.Michael Papo
The youngster fired the Golden Eaglets to the U17 AFCON in Morocco after his late match winner versus Burkina Faso lifted Nigeria to the final of the U17 AFCON qualifiers in Lome, Togo. It was the Eaglets first goal in open play and now the boys have a chance to avenge the 1-0 opening defeat they suffered at the hands of Cote d’Ivoire in Monday’s championship game.
4.Godwin Saviour
The former Nigeria U23 star was the match winner for Portuguese club Casa Pia to win at Varzim and climb to the top half of the Portuguese second division. It was his third goal in eight appearances for the Lisbon outfit.
3.Sadiq Umar
The on-form striker notched a brace to propel UD Almeria to the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey with a big win over Alaves. He has now scored 11 goals in all competitions since his arrival in Spain in the summer from Serbia.
2.Semi Ajayi
The defender scored again and was outstanding as struggling West Bromwich Albion edged past local rivals Wolves 3-2 in the ‘Black Country Derby’. It was his team’s only second win since their return to the Premier League and it boosted their hopes of escaping relegation.
1.‘Simy’ Nwankwo
The big striker was Man of the Match with two goals in open play as well as an assist for Crotone to beat Benevento 4-1 in continuation of the Serie A. He has now netted six goals in 18 matches this season. However, Crotone remain rooted at the bottom of the standings despite recording their third win of the campaign.
