Super Eagles strikers from Sadiq Umar to Paul Onuachu and Taiwo Awoniyi are firing goals again in Europe leading up to next month’s crucial World Cup playoffs against Ghana just as a young winger is fast emerging – Yira Collins Sor.
5.Anthony Nwakaeme
The 32-year-old forward will be one of the reasons Trabzonspor will be crowned champions of Turkey since 1984 after he again delivered the goods with the winning goal and an assist as his Ankara-based club came back from two goals down to beat Kayserispor. Trabzonspor are now 17 points clear of their nearest rival in the title race.

4.Paul Onuachu
The giant Genk striker is again very much in the race for Goal King in Belgium after he scored his 16th goal in the league and also gave an assist for his club to stop KV Kortrijk 2-0. He is now just four goals behind the leading scorer in the Belgian championship. Last season, he was the undisputed Goal King of the Jupilar Professional League with a record 32 goals. Can he retain his crown?
3.Sadiq Umar
The striker has put behind him a below-par showing at the recent AFCON in Cameroon by scoring for the fourth straight game as UD Almeria stay on track for automatic promotion back to La Liga. They are second in the standings and a point behind leaders Eibar after 29 rounds of matches. Sadiq now has 13 goals, two goals fewer than the leading scorer in the Segunda Division. Last season, he scored 20 goals but his club still failed to win promotion via the playoffs.

2.Yira Sor
The former Flying Eagles winger was the Nigerian headline performer in the UEFA Conference League with his brace for new club Slavia Praha to shoot down Turkish giants Fenerbache and progress to the Round of 16 of the inaugural edition of this competition. Sor’s goals and speed will continue to torment the opposition as he grows into his new club.
1.Taiwo Awoniyi
Awoniyi scored his first Bundesliga goal this year after he last scored in December 2021. Interestingly, it was against one of his former clubs, Mainz 05. He has now scored 10 goals in a top-level competition like the Bundesliga. His club Union Berlin won 3-1 to climb to seventh on the table and three points outside the bracket for a ticket to international football next season. He will certainly get another chance to fly with the Super Eagles as long as he continues to do well in Germany.
