It was a week when Nigerian strikers shot down some top clubs – Victor Osimhen was match winner for Galatasaray against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, while Jerome Akor celebrated his maiden Super Eagles call-up with a goal in a big home win over Barcelona.
5.Paul Onuachu
He may have again been snubbed by the Super Eagles for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers, but the giant striker is now the leading scorer in the Turkish Super Lig with six goals. He was on target in stoppage time for Trabzonspor to thump Kayserispor 4-0 and climb to second place in the standings. They have 17 points from eight matches, five points adrift of leaders Galatasaray.

4.Zaidu Sanusi
The leftback has been recalled to the Super Eagles on the back of his new-found form after a battle with injuries. He came off the bench to score for 10-man FC Porto to win 4-0 at Arouca. Porto remain top of the table with 22 points from eight rounds of matches, three points ahead of Sporting CP.
3.Rafiu Durosinmi
The big striker notched his second UEFA Europa League goal for Viktoria Plzen to beat Malmo of Sweden 3-0 at home. Will he now finally make the big transfer in January? His Czech club are eighth in the overall Europa League standings and so in the playoff bracket with four points from two matches. He followed his Europa League exploits with a goal in a 3-3 draw with Hradec Kralove in the Czech league.
2.Jerome Akor
Another big striker who is enjoying rich vein of form after his injury troubles. He got his first La Liga goal on the road at Rayo Vallecano and then followed that up with another goal in Sevilla 4-1 home win over mighty Barcelona. His fine form has been rewarded with a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles. It is a most deserved recognition for the 25-year-old centre-forward.

1.Victor Osimhen
Osimhen was match winner as well as Man of the Match for Galatasaray to post a famous UEFA Champions League victory over Premier League champions Liverpool in Istanbul. His penalty goal meant he is now the most prolific Nigerian in the Champions League as he now has netted 10 goals in the elite club competition. His injury problems from the World Cup qualifier against Rwanda last month are behind him and hopefully he will now deliver some important goals in decisive qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin in the coming days.
