The Super Eagles may not be one of the favourites to win the 2025 AFCON, but this past weekend Victor Osimhen, Jerome Akor, Chidera Ejuke and Calvin Bassey showed they will be in Morocco with goals and assists that should trouble other teams at African football showpiece event.

The masked masksman scored his sixth goal in the Turkish Super Lig for Galatasaray to trounce home team Antalayaspor 4-1. It was another clinical finish by the striker, who will again be a marked man at his second AFCON in Morocco. Galatasaray consolidated their leadership on the table as they are now four points clear of second-placed Trabzonspor with 39 points after 16 rounds of matches.
4.Chidera Ejuke
The tricky winger came off the bench to score his first La Liga goal of the season as Sevilla ended a three-game losing run with a thumping 4-0 home win over Real Oviedo. The dribbling wizard will always be a tough customer for any opposing defence and so a lot more is expected of him at his first AFCON.

3.Calvin Bassey
Fulham ended a 74-year wait for victory at Burnley thanks in part to a goal by central defender Calvin Bassey. He rose high inside the box to head home in a five-goal Premier League thriller. He is certainly brimming with confidence at both ends of the pitch and in the absence of captain William Ekong, he will be expected to step up as one of the leaders in the Super Eagles back four in Morocco. He has matured in a Super Eagles shirt, cutting off the costly mistakes that once questioned his class.
2.Jerome Akor
The big striker boosted his self-belief with a Man of the Match display for Sevilla to smash past Real Oviedo in the Spanish La Liga. He scored his third La Liga goal of the season as early as the fourth minute and then turned provider for his team’s second goal soon after. Morocco 2025 will be his first AFCON and he will certainly want to leave a good impression in this North African kingdom.

1.Chrisantus Uche
The versatile forward responded to his exclusion from the AFCON by scoring his first goal in his first start for Crystal Palace to thrash Shelbourne 3-0 in the UEFA Conference League. He was the runaway Man of the Match with 79% of the votes and this comes against the backdrop of speculations that the Premier League club will not make his loan deal permanent at the end of the season. Without playing at the AFCON, he now has a chance to focus on proving he has a place on a permanent basis at the London club.
