Paul Onuachu and Jerome Akor are pressing to be part of the Super Eagles squad for next month’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers versus Lesotho and Benin going by their impressive showings across Europe.
5.Simy Nwankwo
‘Simy’ has again proved he still has some goals in him after he got a double for his Saudi Arabian club Al Oroba to win 3-2 at Abha. The big striker, who made the 2018 World Cup squad, moved to the oil-rich kingdom only recently as a free agent with the target of getting his ambitious club to the top league in Saudi Arabia.
4.Rafiu Durosinmi
This big striker is also making waves in Europe after he netted his seventh goal in 13 appearances for Czech club Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League in midweek. His goals ensured Viktoria Plzen took a point at Hungarian club Ferencvaros. Durosinmi was a popular subject of transfer speculations in the summer, but it is now looking very likely that he could make the big move in January.

3.Kelechi Iheanacho
‘Senior man’ is enjoying his new chapter with Scottish giants Celtic after he came off the bench to score in a 1-1 draw at Red Star Belgrade of Serbia in the UEFA Europa League. He has now got three goals and an assist in his four appearances for Celtic, not shabby for a striker who was let go by Spanish side this summer.
2.Jerome Akor
The former Flying Eagles striker was the Super Sub for Sevilla, when he came off the bench to score the match winner at Rayo Vallecano. It was his first Spanish La Liga goal since his arrival from French club Montpellier in January. He has now put behind his injury woes to help his troubled club and such form would certainly interest coach Eric Chelle as the Super Eagles aim to score loads of goals next month to give them at least a fighting chance of qualifying for the World Cup.

1.Paul Onuachu
The giant striker scored twice, including a spectacular overhead kick effort that will be an early contender for Goal of the Season, for his Turkish club Trabzonspor to end a three-game winless run. ‘Big Paul’ has now fired five goals in seven matches for Trabzonspor. The 4-3 win at Fatih Karagumruk has now shot Trabzonspor to third in the standings with 14 points from seven matches, seven points behind leaders and defending champions Galatasaray. Coach Eric Chelle is an admirer of Onuachu even though critics are quick to point out the towering striker has yet to translate club form to the Super Eagles.
