The new face of Nigeria shooting stars – Terem Moffi, Sadiq Umar, Victor Boniface – came to the fore across Europe this past weekend.
5.Victor Boniface
The big striker has announced his arrival in Belgium following his transfer from Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt with his first goal for Union St.Gilloise to beat Anderlecht 2-1 in the Brussels Derby. The former Flying Eagles striker’s all-action display has caught the eye and a lot more will be expected of him this season. Another beast of a striker coming through.
4.Moses Usor
The youngster has continued to impress in his first season in Europe as he weighed in with a goal for Slavia Praha to qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League at the expense of Polish club Rakow. Slavia Praha have thrived with Peter Olayinka, then Yira Sor and now the latest Nigerian star shining for them is Usor. Interestingly, all three players came from 36 Lion of Lagos.
3.Moses Simon
FC Nantes came from behind to beat Toulouse 3-1 with Moses Simon getting a goal and an assist. He has now scored two goals for ‘The Canaries’. He is again carrying his team this season.
2.Sadiq Umar
The tall striker has begun to show he can live in La Liga when he netted the winning goal for promoted UD Almeria to record their first victory back in the Spanish top league against Sevilla. He has now scored twice after his first goal in a 1-1 draw with Elche the previous weekend.
1.Terem Moffi
The Super Eagles striker was the best player on the park with two goals for hosts FC Lorient to stop Clermont Foot 2-1 in a Ligue 1 clash. His second goal was an audacious solo effort as he went almost the entire half of the pitch before slotting home what proved to be the winning goal. A trademark goal by the exciting striker.
