This past week was for Victor Osimhen as he shot himself into the record books with Napoli. It is a classic grass-to-grace story.
5.Mohammed Tijani
The former Flying Eagles striker scored his sixth goal in his last four matches as his Czech club Banik Ostrava smashed past Zbrojovka Brno 4-0. He scored his team’s second goal in the 32nd minute. His club are top of their relegation playoffs.
4.Gift Orban
Questions were asked after he previously went several games without a goal last month, but the sensational striker has again proved he has not lost his shooting boots when he scored for the second straight UEFA Conference playoff game. Gent won 2-1 at Standard Liege to go clear at the top of the playoffs. He has now netted 11 goals in the Belgian league – nine in the regular season and two in the playoffs. Interestingly, it was his audacious effort from the centre circle which crashed against the crossbar that even attracted a lot more attention from this game. He was even racially abused apparently by fans of the opposing team that Gent had to fire a formal complaint to the relevant authorities.
3.Victor Boniface
Union St.Gilloise recorded a vital 2-1 win at defending champions Club Brugge with another former Flying Eagles striker getting on the scoreboard. He has now scored eight goals in his first league season in Belgium and he also shone for his modest club to reach the quarterfinal of the UEFA Europa League. Union are third in the playoffs standings and now occupy the UEFA Europa League qualification spot. On Sunday they welcome second-placed Genk in continuation of the playoffs.
2.Terem Moffi
The Super Eagles striker is truly enjoying his football in the French Ligue 1 this season after he got his 20th goal in all competitions in a home win by OGC Nice over Rennes. His best tally before now was 15 goals, which he achieved in his first season in France.

1.Victor Osimhen
Osimhen, once upon a time the boy from the Lagos slums, shot his way into the history books on many fronts this past week after he scored the equaliser at Udinese to crown Napoli champions of Italy for the third time. He followed this feat up with the match winner at home against Fiorentina for his 23rd goal in Serie A this season. This Scudetto was his first major trophy since he moved to Europe in 2017. He is now only the second Nigeria star after Obafemi Martins at Inter Milan to win this championship. He is now the most prolific African star ever to grace the Serie A after he smashed the 21-goal season record held by Samuel Eto’o as well as the 46-goal all-time record of another African legend, George Weah. The striker has been congratulated by President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as various football stars around the world. He remains on course to become the first African to be crowned Goal King of Italy. CAF African Footballer of the Year loading…
