Brown Ideye, Joe Aribo and Emmanuel Dennis continue to fly the Nigerian flag in Europe as Asisat Oshoala shot to the top of the goals chart in Spain.
5.Brown Ideye
The experienced striker ensured Aris stayed in contention for a place in the championship playoffs in Greece after he scored in a 2-2 draw at Lamia. He has now scored seven goals in the Super League in Greece to continue his comeback after a difficult few years in China and Spain.
4.Henry Onyekuru
The AS Monaco loanee has finally opened his goals account at Turkish champions Galatasaray in an atrocious Istanbul Derby win over bitter rivals Fenerbache. He has settled in at Gala after a difficult start on return for a second spell. The league still has some way to go and Gala are now very much in strong reckoning to successfully retain the championship with their Nigeria star expected to play another key role.
3.Emmanuel Dennis
All eyes were on Odion Ighalo and Manchester United, but it was Emmanuel Dennis and his Belgian team Club Brugge who got noticed as they were held to a 1-1 draw in a Europa League Round of 32 fixture with the Super Eagles forward getting on the scoresheet. Dennis’ profile has continued to soar after his exploits in Europe this season as speculations continue over his future.
2.Joe Aribo
“Emergency leftback” Joe Aribo followed up on his goal in the Europa League with a goal in the league against St.Johnstone. Earlier this week he scored a superb solo goal for Rangers to record a 3-2 win over Sporting Braga of Portugal in a Round of 32 tie of the UEFA Europa League. He will earn high praise from manager Steven Gerrard for his overall performance playing an unfamiliar position.
1.Asisat Oshoala
The Super Falcons skipper and African Player of the Year is now joint leading scorer in Spain with 20 goals in the league after she fired a treble in Barcelona Ladies 6-0 pounding of Logrono. Her club also look set to run away with the championship after they narrowly lost out to Atletico Madrid last season.
