Last season, Semi Ajayi played an important role for West Bromwich Albion to win promotion back to the Premier League and he will again be counted on to ensure ‘The Baggies’ stay up in the top league this season.
The 27-year-old Ajayi, who was previously on the books of Arsenal, scored five goals from defence in 43 appearances last season in the English Championship for WBA to gain promotion.
He scored his first Premier League goal this season and has so far played 16 of the 17 matches of his club as they fight for survival in the league.
New manager Sam Allardyce will always bank on a tight defence who will stop leaking goals as part of the keys to escape relegation and so Ajayi will have his work cut out in the coming weeks.
With the Super Eagles, he has continued to grow in stature since he missed out on the final squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He has played as central defender as well as in defensive midfielder for the national team.
Gernot Rohr will most likely give him a bigger role in his team in 2021.
